About Intrigue Chocolates

Intrigue Chocolates Co. is a socially and ecologically conscious business. Our mission is to share great chocolate, to build long-term partnerships that are economically just and environmentally sound, to foster mutually beneficial relationships with local businesses and customers, and to support nonprofit organizations working with at-risk populations in our region.
We follow these guiding principles:

A Brief History
2003: Aaron is a botanist by education, but didn't pursue the field directly as a profession much to his mother's chagrin. In an attempt to inspire him, Aaron's mother signed him up with a subscription to a botany magazine. As fortune has it, there was a recipe for a chocolate ganache truffle that caught Aaron's eye and he started experimenting.
2005: Aaron started Intrigue Chocolates in 2005 while he worked for Madre's Kitchen, a catering company located just north of downtown Seattle. There he crafted his first recipes to include in prepared meals. Feedback was positive so he started producing more and more chocolate before finally deciding to branch off on his own as Intrigue Chocolates Co.
2006: Karl became a partner in the business early in the year, providing a reliable car to use and much needed logistical support. Together Aaron and Karl traveled to wine pairing and chocolate events that showcased the flavor and texture of the chocolate as a compliment to other experiences.
2010: Intrigue Chocolates Co. signs a lease for a shop in Pioneer Square. After 4 solid months of demo and reconstruction, the shop was ready to open in November. Finally we have a place to call home!
